A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Programme Administrator to join the SSAFA@140 Programme Team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity for a period of 12 months.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

      About the role

You will be supporting a small but busy programme team for SSAFA@140, a large organisational change programme. This position involves organising meetings, travel, processing expenses, and also supporting the programme team with project admin tasks (creating Gantt Charts, project documentation, creating presentations and project reporting documents, and managing tasks in TeamGantt, our project management tool). This is a good opportunity to learn more about project management skills and techniques and would be of interest to anyone interested in pursuing a career in project management.

This is a 3 day a week position. We are open to discussing the possibility of occasionally working from home and working flexibly.  Please wait until the job offer stage before asking us about flexibility, and we will explore what’s possible for the role.

      About the team

We are small, friendly Programme team, working across SSAFA’s network of volunteers around the country and abroad. We also have significant contact with senior level stakeholders (including our National Chairman, Trustees, CEO and Directors). We value our open, innovative, can-do team spirit and enjoy delivering this exciting programme against a backdrop of changing priorities and some uncertainties.

      About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of:

      • Working in a project or programme environment
      • Working to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
      • Having excellent Microsoft Office skills
      • Learning new skills, preferably relating to project or programme management
      • Experience in the charity / social enterprise / voluntary sector or
      • Being demonstrably committed to the charity / social enterprise / voluntary sector

Happy spouses

They helped me free up important time to work on my business by finding me a fantastic, dedicated, kind and communicative administrative assistant.

Emily Foster

RFS was...a platform for spouses who understood my struggles and my challenges. It felt like I came to them in pieces, deflated and very defeated and they (RFS) pieced me back together.

Rusila Halofaki

RFS are offering an amazing, unique opportunity in the Liquid Workforce within the recruitment world...so many doors can be opened.

Kate Legg

Don't give up, amazing and flexible companies do exist and RFS are 100% the best people to help you find them.

Amie Hills Grey

RFS was and is the only platform that exists that really understands the struggles and plight of every Armed Forces spouse.

Rusila Halofaki

The competency amongst the military spouse community is unbelievably good and the fact all our candidates were happy with remote working made this ideal for us as a small business.

Michael Coates, COMBAT pest control

I found the course to be an excellent refresher of the skills I used in my previous roles, and also a confidence booster to me, proving that I can do it again

Melody Davies, Liquid Workforce

Helpful? It has been so much more. It has given me confidence and self-belief as well as motivation and inspiration.

B. Barber, Military Spouse

This experience has been more than helpful. It has been, in many ways, life changing.
