As a social enterprise, we believe in giving back to our community and that starts with every military spouse we help into work. We engage with businesses to change the way they recruit military spouses and we offer support, advice and guidance to military spouses looking to get back into the workplace.

Supporting the development of our Community

RFS is committed to tackling the ongoing issue of military spouse unemployment and underemployment. We work tirelessly to improve this community of hard-working individuals by supporting the development of their professional selves – no matter what that may look like.

Little Troopers

A small charity with a big heart

Little Troopers is a registered charity supporting all children with one or both parents serving in our British Armed Forces (regular or reserve).

These children face unique daily challenges due to their parents career choice especially when they experience repeated separation of varying lengths of time from their serving parent(s) due to exercises and operations plus moving home and school frequently due to service requirements.

As a charity, they ensure all Little Troopers have fundamental resources available to help ease and aid any separation period, it is important to us that support can be reached self-sufficiently from wherever military children are based, that initiatives are in existence to keep serving parent and child connected when miles separate and that there is a community celebrating how special all the Little Troopers out there really are!

Little Troopers was first created back in 2011 and since that time has grown, changed and become the much loved military children’s charity and vital support toolbox that now exists.

Recruit for Spouses chose to support Little Troopers because of the vital work they do in supporting the Armed Forces community. Our ethos, approach and passion are aligned and we work hard to increase the awareness of Little Troopers to ensure military families are supported in every way possible.

Smart Works

The confidence to succeed

Smart Works are a UK charity that exists to give women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives.

Smart Works provides a two-hour dressing and coaching service for our spouses who are currently unemployed but have confirmed job interviews.  On arrival at one of the national Smart Works offices, you will have a short chat before a personalised styling session with two of Smart Works volunteer stylists.  Dressing you head to foot in brand new clothes (including Burberry, Jigsaw, Hobbs and more) they will then offer an hour interview coaching with an HR professional to get your killer answers tailored to perfection.

Recruit for Spouses understand that looking and feeling great at interview stage is essential for you to truly take control of the situation and portray yourself as a worthy contender in any job situation.  That’s why we are a referral partner for the fabulous charity, Smart Works.  And we are in good company since The Duchess of Sussex is one of their patrons.
