Remote Working: Our Flexible Future

Lord Sugar, how wrong you are…

We’ve been promoting & supporting working from home for 10 years now and this is why we think it’s the future of work…

The customers we work with who have military spouses in their teams are seeing a 100% uptake in productivity and a decrease in absenteeism.. but why is this? Simply put, people are happiest at home! Based on statistical analysis, remote work is proven to result in increased productivity and better results; it seems the “remote working revolution” is here to stay. Further, we think companies would be wise to rid themselves of outdated perceptions on mobility, and let us work at our desks, in our dining rooms and in our bedrooms as a strategy to overcome the ‘skills shortage’ present in this new decade.

  • Productivity V Presenteeism…— home based workers are an average of 35-40% more productive than their office counterparts, and have measured an output increase of at least 4.4%.
  • Performance — With stronger autonomy via location independence, workers produce results with 40% fewer quality defects.
  • Engagement — Higher productivity and performance combine to create stronger engagement, or in other words, 41% lower absenteeism.
  • The Great Resignation & Retention — 54% of employees say they would change jobs for one that offered them more flexibility, which results in an average of 12% turnover reduction after a remote work agreement is offered.
  • Profitability — Organizations save an average of £11,000 per year per part-time telecommuter, or 21% higher profitability.

The trend surrounding remote working and bringing workers back to the office does present us with a strong argument, but when it comes to the military community, employers are missing out on a large slice of talent, productivity versus presenteeism, does it pay to look at the military community? For our way of life, the “working from home” revolution has proven successful in providing us with flexible, remote working opportunities; returning our talent to the workplace.

Since our founding, we have changed the landscape for military spouses in the UK and across the globe, acting as a trailblazer for remote, agile working opportunities for our shared community. Developing from a recruitment company to an inclusive career ecosystem, we employ a person-centred, holistic approach towards our work, with proven results. We exist to connect the partners of our serving personnel with progressive and supportive employers seeking exceptional candidates.

We have experienced significant growth since the COVID-19 pandemic, mostly thanks to an increased focus and enhanced accessibility of working-from-home employment roles and opportunities. We’ve grown by over 600% since the initial lockdown and our results and testimonials speak for themselves. By providing working from home opportunities to military spouses and veterans, we have established our own group of resilient, adaptable and mobile workers, with 90% of this workforce having been unemployed for five or more years prior to reaching out to Recruit for Spouses. We have a database of 5500 candidates all in talent pools, and over 1000 ready to work tomorrow.

This is a testament to our ambition and our success as we plan to expand our reach across the globe with a number of projects and partners joining us in the coming year.

We are proud to represent our military community, acting as a trailblazer for spouses, holding a strong association with our military partners as we continue to influence policy, and advocate for change. We can proudly confess we are the only professional mentoring and coaching network for military spouses; supporting them through the unique challenges they face at every stage of their career.

We can’t wait to see what comes next, and we hope to bring you on our journey.
