Mission Motorsport National Transition Event

RFS Debrief – Mission Motorsport

On the 24th of March, we attended the Mission Motorsport National Transition Event at Silverstone, joining over 70 organisations and 500 service leavers in an event centred on helping those who have left, or are leaving the armed forces in search of a civilian career.

The event enabled service leavers with the opportunity to network with employers, benefit from upskilling and career development workshops, and converse about life outside of the Military bubble. This gave us a change to utilise our new pop up stand and get to work spreading the word of Recruit for Spouses, and the amazing support we provide to our military service members and leavers.

We were joined by Ella from our charity partner SmartWorks.

SmartWorks are a UK charity that exist to give women the confidence they need to secure employment and the confidence necessary to be successful in the interview process. Through providing a dressing and coaching consultation service for our unemployed spouses, their clients feel and look good, allowing them to take control of their interview and portray themselves as a worthy contender in any job situation.

Ella was a great addition to the RfS team, and a number of individuals gathered around her stand to listen to the great work they do in championing and supporting women though the employment process.

Over the course of the day, we were also treated to talks by Sir Chris Hoy MBE and Ben Collins (formally ‘The Stig’ on BBC’s Top Gear), alongside passenger rides around Silverstone’s famous circuit. A personal highlight was being taken around the track in a Caterham! Being a huge F1 fan myself, this was an amazing experience, and the opportunity to represent RfS for the first time at an employment event, whilst being able to explore the famous location meant that it was a truly special day, enjoyed by all.
