As a military spouse herself, Emily recognises the skills many have that are frequently overlooked or ignored by recruiters. When a role came up in her company, Glowing Potential, she contacted RFS to see how we could help.
What was your recruitment issue?
It was my first hire and I was having issues finding a committed administrative assistant. As it’s a role where people can have a variety of backgrounds (HR, bookkeeping, customer service, etc.) it was difficult to know what exactly to look for. I was also tentative because a previous hire, not through RFS, which had taken several weeks of training time out of my schedule, hadn’t worked out.
Why did you approach Recruit for Spouses?
I needed help screening and selecting appropriate candidates. I also felt drawn to what RFS stands for – as a military spouse myself I see how important these services are.

What do you see as the benefits of hiring a military spouses or veterans?
Well, being a military spouse myself, I am a bit biased, but I think supporting those who often forgo some luxuries in day-to-day family and work life to support someone serving their country is important. As for the direct benefits, my administrative assistant is a communicative and responsible remote-worker who I feel is dedicated to the role and invested in our success. So, in summary: supporting a cause bigger than yourself, employees with dedication to their role and communicative remote workers.
